Gratitude 20fourteen

Guys. I'm just gonna say it. Michael Linley is a freaking  B A M F !   I really want to use another term, but since once posted on the internet, it's out there forever, I refrain and keep with my original term,
B A M F .  I wonder each day how I got so lucky to have him all to myself.

Needless to say, this Thanksgiving when the fam gathered around the table to say what we are grateful for, Michael Linley was top of my list.

One time while talking to Mike's sister, she asked me if he was everything I ever wanted on my list. You know the one every girl writes about their future husbands when they are 13? I told her that he far exceeds anything my 13 year old self could have ever imagined.

2nd on my list this year is Frank. He completes this family.
I won't go on about him though, because I really don't feel like embarrassing myself.
Let's just leave it at this; I really love our pup.

In short, I'm thankful for my boys.

MOCKINGJAY Part 1

For those of you who have not had the pleasure of seeing this movie, you must immediately drop whatever it is you are doing and rush to the next showing. It is totes worth paying full price for! If you haven't seen the first couple of movies, watch them stat and then get your buns into a theater! I will warn you that it does end right in the middle of the story so be prepared to be left on the edge of your seat!

I won't go into specifics because I do not want to spoil it, but at one point in this super fantastic movie, something rather unexpected happens and since Michael hasn't read the books he had no idea it was coming. The poor kid jumps and nearly yells a cuss word loud enough for the
E N T I R E  audience to hear him! I'll never forget the look on his face! That, my friends, will be a favorite memory for this year!

Golden Corral

As I am sure you recall, we tried our hardest to take advantage of Veterans Day this year. Well, come to find out that if you pay attention, some places have military appreciation randomly throughout the year! For example..  G O L D E N   C O R A L !  I will be honest, we were pretty skeptical about eating there, but we were pleasantly blown out of the water! Aside from the crowds, we really did enjoy ourselves quite a bit! The food was better than expected, the price was right on spot, and the company was sweet as candy!

We have been trying to put together  F A M I L Y   H O M E   E V E N I N G  for the younger couples in our ward and although the turn out has been pretty rough, the Knights have been absolutely amazing and come to as many as they could. We are so lucky to have them here! So, even though Kaitlin couldn't come this particular night, we were more than pleased to have Tyler along with us!

Lone Star Taqueria

Senior year of high school, I met this girl. We were in the same Chemistry class, and if weren't for her, I wouldn't have made it through! Ever since that class, we've been the best of friends! Our lives have taken us different places physically, but we have always remained besties! Tonight, Jesse & Maddy drove to all the way to Salt Lake just to see us! I've never felt so special! We went to this cute taco place, Lone Star Taqueria. The Tacos were delicious and the company even better.
Oh... & Happy Belated Birthday Maddy!

Our Weekend Visitor!

This is our dear, sweet friend named  W A L T E R .  He is a very large pup with an amazing personality. The people that I nanny part-time asked us to watch  W A L L Y  for a weekend. We absolutely fell in love with this little pup! They actually offered for us to keep him, and for a while we seriously considered it! He was Michael's dream dog, so this decision couldn't be made hastily! We flipped back and forth on wether or not we should keep him but decided this isn't our time for a large kiddo. It broke our hearts, but Wally's stay with us only confirmed our desire for a big puppy in the future! Thanks for playing W A L L Y !

Excuse my awful outfit. I clearly wasn't prepared for these photos!

Veterans Day 2014

There have only been a handful of times that Michael has ever asked for a "Military Discount" since I've known him. Most of those times have been for tickets to Disneyland which is totally understandable, so when I suggested we milk this Veterans Day for all it's worth, I was surprised to learn he was up for the challenge! So, with a little research, we found many, many places that offer free food/admission/products to Veterans.

First of all, we slept in. Michael needed the sleep.
Then, we got our bums in gear and headed out to Ruby River Steakhouse! They gave Michael a free burger and bottomless steak fries! Mmm mmm good! We love free food!

Then we headed over to the Aquarium! They were offering free admission to Vets and their families! Had we of known this, we would have invited a lot more people, but there is alway next year!

Then it was to the movie theater to see Big Hero 6. It was good, but we'd suggest waiting for the dollar theater to see it, or even redbox.

We then ended our evening at Olive Garden. We were underdressed, exhausted, and extremely happy to be getting free food! I really do love this guy so much! I appreciate his service so much and all of those who have defended our country!

FHE @ The Beehive House

Welcome to the Blog Kaitlin & Tyler Knight! These guys are currently living in our ward, and they are 2 kool cats! We have started holding weekly  F H E ' S  again, and these 2 are our most counted on pair! Plus, they make for great company! This week, we toured the Beehive House on Temple Square! If you've never done it, it's amazing. Everything in this house is beautiful and has so much history! There is a section in the Doctrine and Covenants that was revealed to Brigham Young in that very house. They showed us the exact room and the spirit you feel in there is undeniable.

The two sisters who walked us through were from Italy and Germany and their accents made the tour all the more interesting! Living in Salt Lake for so long, we take advantage of these amazing historical places we have right in our backyard! Hopefully we can start to more fully take advantage of them!

Marine Corps Ball 2k14

The first Marine Corps Ball I ever went too was a couple of months after we got married and Michael's lack of Enthusiasm for the ball made it super difficult to get excited. However, as his time spent in the Marine Corps increases, so does his excitement! This last Ball will definitely go down as one never to forget! Michael had been working hard to plan it with some of his buddies and I must say, I was impressed. I honestly felt like we were in high school and he was planning his perfect prom date! Plus, who doesn't love having a reason to get all dolled up? So this year, Michael Linley gathered a group of our favorite Marines and planned a fabulous evening!

We started at the Marriott downtown where we watched the ceremonial birthday cake be cut, and listened to the guest of honor. This is the first time I've actually enjoyed listening to what he had to say! My favorite quote of the evening was "You can join the Army; You can join the Air Force; But you become a Marine." This is all too true. I have seen Michael truly transform has his service in the Corps has continued. I complain so much about it, but he wouldn't be the amazing person he is without the Corps!

After saying our goodbyes, we walked a few blocks to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
One word:  A M A Z I N G !
I'm not even sure "amazing" does the food justice! If ever you find yourself in need of a fancy dinner, this is the place to go. Nothing will compare. Ever. It's amazing.

So after filling our stomachs, and emptying our wallets, we headed home for some snugs and a movie! Perfection.

Seriously, it made me feel like a million bucks!

Sunday Dinner Date!

I know I talk a lot about how lucky we are to have such amazing friends... Blah, blah, blah.
I'll bet you're sick of it even! Well too bad because this one is being thrown back to the time we had the Bedingfields over for Sunday dinner! We sat around talking, laughing, and watching the
Y O U T U B E  for many a few hours. They're a fun time. We really like them.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple Night!

Thank goodness for family to watch over our spiritual souls! We absolutely adore attending the Temple, but attending a new Temple with family makes it all the much better!
It was a struggle to make the session on time, but we overcame our struggles and made it just in time! Just as we settled in for a session, we heard a definite Stinker from one of the men! We tried our hardest to contain our giggles but once Kara got laughing, there was no stopping us! We are so lucky to have these amazing people as family! They are such great examples to us! We love you guys!

Sorry for the struggle of a selfie!
Fitting everything into the tiny screen is a talent!
